Human Serum Albumin (HSA) is the most abundant plasma protein and plays a central role in ligand transport, osmotic pressure regulation and stabilization of biomolecules. The protein contains multiple binding sites for fatty acids, drugs and endogenous metabolites, making it widely used in biochemical and pharmaceutical applications.
Recombinant HSA expressed in defined systems such as our Hansenula polymorpha expression platforms provides a consistent and well-characterized protein source. In contrast to plasma-derived material, recombinant production ensures absence of human pathogens and batch-to-batch variability.
